What affects the cost
Four things that change the total.
Generic or brand
Thai generics contain the same two medicines as Truvada and usually cost much less. A doctor helps you choose; both protect in the same way.
How much you take home
A one-month supply costs less today than three months, but you’ll need to come back sooner. Most people match their supply to the next 3-monthly check.
Which tests you need
Recent results from home can sometimes replace a repeat test. An optional STI screen is priced separately.
Daily or on-demand
On-demand 2-1-1 uses fewer pills if you have sex occasionally, but it only suits some people. The doctor will tell you which schedule fits.

Is PrEP free in Thailand?
Thai nationals can get PrEP through the national health scheme at public hospitals. Visitors and most expats use private clinics and pay for their own care.
Why cheap online pills cost more
Pills bought without an HIV test or kidney check can be fake, wrongly stored, or unsafe if you already have HIV. A proper start is worth it.
